Basic reading
AI-assisted readingThe poem in plain language
In a dream, years of honor and splendor pass within sleep. Even changing out of fine clothing and returning home remains vivid in memory. Waking exposes the gap between convincing experience and reality.
The central idea
Years of splendor pass within a dream, leaving only a memory upon waking. The lot reflects on the passing nature of status and gain. A wish need not be discarded, but imagined grandeur is not a sure source of peace; waking life still holds things worth caring for.
